This book was written by John Richardson and published in 1996. It provides one of the most comprehensive and detailed discussions of the ontological version of Nietzsche’s concept of the will to power. Most philosophers in the secondary literature on Nietzsche find this version of the will to power empirically implausible, and they instead tend to focus on other aspects of the concept. This book is exceptional in this regard.
Nadeem Hussain describes Richardson’s interpretation of Nietzsche’s metaethical position outlined in chapter 3 of Nietzsche’s System as a form of moral realism: to be powerful is what it means to be good (Hussain, 2007, p. 177, fn. 48).
